Introduction

Cloud PHR Pro is an advanced, native iPhone client for Google Health, Google's Personal Health Record (PHR). Its free counterpart, Cloud PHR, was recently featured on Good Morning America. What differentiates Cloud PHR Pro from the freely available Cloud PHR?
  • This Pro version gives you the option of caching your data, allowing you browse your health record in a doctor's office without WiFi or cellular service.
  • The user interface is also vastly improved, with snappier load times and a more readable display of health information.
  • Profiles can be assigned pictures, allowing you to manage your family's health information in a more natural way.
Cloud PHR Pro is not developed by Google. Rather it uses Google Health's publicly available API (the Objective-C GData libraries) to communicate with Google's servers to retrieve data from your PHR. Please note, all traffic to and from Google Health uses HTTPS (SSL).

Settings

The Settings page lets you enter your Google Health account information.

  • Enable the "Save Password" option to instruct Cloud PHR to store your password securely in your iPhone's Keychain.
  • Enable the "Cache Data" option to instruct Cloud PHR to save an offline copy of every page your view in Cloud PHR. This setting is particularly useful when bringing Cloud PHR to your doctor's office, since WiFi and cellular signals are often unavailable or weak.
Note: I'd recommend enabling your iPhone's "Passcode Lock" when using either of these features to prevent accidental data disclosure.

Family List

The Family List page represents each Google Health profile as an icon. Tapping on an icon launches that person's record.

The icons can be customized with a photo of each individual. Set the picture on the Age, Sex, Height page.

The toolbar contains two buttons
  • The info button at the upper left displays information about Cloud PHR.
  • The gear button at the upper right displays the Settings page.

Person Detail

The Person Detail page lists the different information available in an individual's Google Health record.

  • The Notices section shows a count of messages sent to that profile, much like an email inbox.
  • The Age, Sex, Height section displays demographics information.
  • The rest of the sections (Conditions, Medications, Allergies, etc...) list information in two ways.
    • Most Recent: shows the most recent data for each piece of information. Thus a patient with ten blood pressure readings in Google Health would only see the single most recent reading.
    • All: shows all data for all pieces of information. This takes a little longer to load, but is obvoiusly more complete.
  • At the bottom of the Person Detail page, one can tap the Health Record button to see a view of their Google Health record rendered with the AAFP's CCR stylesheet.

Notices

The Notices section shows a list of messages sent to that profile, much like an email inbox.

Tapping on a message brings up its full text, along with a link to view any attached data.

Age, Sex, Height

The Age, Sex, Height section displays demographics information.

Males are represented by blue icons , Females by pink icons .

Tap the camera icon in the upper right hand side of the page to set a more relevant picture for the current profile.

Medical Information

The Medical Information sections (Conditions, Medications, Allergies, etc...) list information in two ways.
  • Most Recent: shows the most recent data for each piece of information. Thus a patient with 10 blood pressure readings in Google Health would only see the most recent reading.
  • All: shows all data for all pieces of information. This takes a little longer to load.

Tapping on an entry brings up a detail screen similar to what is available on the Google Health website.

Health Record

The Health Record section renders the entire Google Health record via AAFP's CCR stylesheet.

This is also where one can export one's health record in HTML format by sending it in an email by tapping the export icon in the upper right corner.

Note: You probably don't want to do this.

Generally, to keep your information safe, you'll want to share your record via Google Health's secure "Share this Profile" functionality or, if need be, its "Export profile to PDF" button. However, I added this feature because it's your data and you should be able to do what you want with it.
